2025-2026 Theology Teacher: Archbishop Hoban High School

Position: 2025-2026 Full-Time Theology Teacher Position Description: Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a full-time Theology teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This position includes teaching five sections of Theology courses that align with school standards in a modified block schedule format. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire for creating an inclusive and positive classroom environment, actively engaging students in learning and encourage a high level of academic achievement. We are a private Catholic high school in the heart of east Akron and rooted in the Holy Cross tradition. Position Responsibilities: Create authentic assessments that consistently provide sound practice and feedback, resulting in student growth and development. Incorporate various modes of technology into lesson plans and classroom activities. Experience with or are open to a variety of instructional methods and techniques to meet course objectives. Encourage a classroom culture of mutual respect and build positive relationships with students. Evaluate student academic needs and report student progress as scheduled. Communicate with parents and/or guardians in a timely manner regarding student progress. Ensure compliance with all school policies, procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe and productive environment for students. Participate in school-wide events such as open houses, meet the teacher night and conferences. Effective communication, problem-solving and time management skills. Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.

Position Qualifications: Valid Ohio high school teaching license. Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies or related field. Master’s preferred. Valid catholic high school catechist certificate or the eligibility to acquire one. Working knowledge of school technology (academic software, Google, etc.). Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation. Have attended or are willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
