Founded in 1947 by Monsignor William Newton, Elyria Catholic High School has been shaping the next generation of saints and leaders for over 75 years. With 530 students in grades nine through twelve, we provide a personalized education that nurtures both mind and heart. Essential Job Functions:

  • Understand and witness the school and diocesan mission.
  • Assist students in understanding and applying executive functioning strategies, including goal-setting, task management, and self-regulation.
  • Monitor student progress through observations and one-on-one meetings providing instructive feedback to enhance learning.
  • Work closely with staff to create a supportive environment that fosters student growth and addresses individual challenges.
  • Recommend tools, resources, and techniques that students can utilize to improve their executive functioning skills.
  • Provide ongoing support to students by helping them develop a positive mindset and resilience as they navigate their academic responsibilities.
  • Provide faculty and staff with supportive interventions to better serve their neurodiverse students.
  • Provide staff with education regarding their students’ behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, intervention specialists, and aides to provide comprehensive interventions and practices for neurodiverse students.
  • Provide training and support to aides working with students needing more intensive support.
  • Analyze classroom procedures to identify where students may struggle, assisting teachers with support as needed.
  • Work closely with administration and classroom teachers to determine appropriate behavior management strategies.
  • Collaborate with intervention teams to create personalized intervention plans and monitor progress.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and to best practices in Catholic education.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive, or Related Field (Master’s preferred)
  • Energy and enthusiasm for working with and developing students for success in high

school and beyond

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education
  • Successful BCI and FBI background checks and VIRTUS certified or willing to be certified.
