Thursday: 10:00 am –3:00 pm & 6:00 – 8:00 pm (7 hrs)
Friday: 1:00 pm–3:00 pm or 6:00– 8:00 pm (2 hrs)
Saturday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm (4 hrs)
Sunday: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm (5 hrs) Part-Time Non-Exempt (Hourly)
General Summary of the Position
The Faith Formation Assistant plays a vital role in supporting all aspects of the parish faith formation program. This position works closely with the Faith Formation team to develop and maintain an annual schedule, ensuring the effective organization of programs and events. Primary responsibilities include administrative support, such as maintaining sacramental records and certificates, managing program registrations, conducting evaluations, and overseeing the parish faith formation database (OSV). Additionally, this role requires collaboration with office staff to maintain regular office hours for visitors and parishioners and participation in parish fundraising activities as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
- Foster a welcoming and supportive parish community.
- Assist in developing and implementing faith formation strategies aligned with the parish mission.
- Support the design, evaluation, and execution of religious education programs for various age groups, ensuring alignment with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, National Catechetical Directory, Diocesan Guidelines, Parish Mission Statement, and FORMED platform.
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and management of the parish faith formation program, including maintaining accurate records.
- Evaluate the faith formation program in relation to the parish mission, setting goals and action plans for ongoing development.
- Support the Religious Education program, including recruiting and training catechists, and coordinating ongoing formation opportunities.
- Collaborate with catechists to facilitate sacramental preparation for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
- Provide administrative support for fundraising efforts in coordination with the Business Administrator and Parish Finance Council.
- Assist the Parish Office Staff in maintaining regular office hours to ensure accessibility for visitors and parishioners.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the parish community.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Adaptability to changing schedules and priorities.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
- A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church, committed to faith and personal spiritual growth.
- Passion for evangelization and fostering faith formation.
- Experience in public speaking, presentations, teaching, and social media engagement.
- Collaborative and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to actively participate in the parish community, including attending Mass, events, and activities.
- Ability to support catechists and parents as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Calendar.
- Experience with the OSV Parish System is preferred.
- High school diploma required; at least three years of experience in a secretarial or administrative role.
