What are the responsibilities and job description for the Short Term Substitute Teacher Assistant (Part-Time) position at Catholic Diocese of Lansing?
St. Patrick Catholic School in Brighton, Michigan is accepting applications for a Part-Time Second Grade Teacher Assistant. In this position you will work closely with a full-time second grade classroom teacher for approximately 20 hours per week. Duties will include- working with small groups of students, assisting with events and planning, working one-on-one with students, and providing both enrichment and intervention as needed. This is a temporary FMLA position between approximately March 19- April 16th.

Applicant must be a practicing Catholic who is committed to fostering a child’s relationship with God while promoting academic excellence in a 21st Century classroom. In addition, candidate must possess strong communication skills, a willingness to work as a part of a team, the ability to use technology in a classroom setting, and a solid understanding of classroom management.
The following are also preferred but not required:
- A current State of Michigan Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education (K-5 all subjects/ 6-8 self-contained)
- Early Childhood Endorsement
- Experience in early literacy instruction (Orton-Gillingham or other training in systematic multisensory phonics instruction)
All candidates will need to pass a criminal background check with fingerprints and participation in the VIRTUS program, or proof of such participation, will be required.
