Applications are now being accepted for the position of Director of Music Ministry for St. Mary Magdalene Parish, in the East End of Pittsburgh. This is a part-time position—20 to 25 hours a week. In collaboration with the pastor, the Director of Music Ministry will plan and coordinate a liturgical music program serving the parish, including instrumental music, choral music and congregational hymns.
Qualifications for the Director of Music Ministry position include:
Salary is competitive and negotiable, based on experience. Participation in the diocesan 403(b) plan is available.
Successful applicant will pass criminal background and reference checks, and complete diocesan Safe Environment requirements and training.

Qualifications for the Director of Music Ministry position include:
- Direct the music ministry of the parish, including one Saturday Vigil Mass and two Sunday morning Masses, funerals, weddings, and other parish liturgies at the three churches of the parish.
- Arrange the music for other musicians as needed, and will coordinate choirs, cantors, and with other musicians.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of an organ/piano as well as in reading music and have 3 to 5 years’ experience in successful parish music and liturgy.
- Demonstrate competency in leading and collaborating with volunteer choirs and instrumentalists.
- Possess knowledge of a variety of liturgical music styles, as well as strong leadership and organizational skills.
