Youth Ministry Assistant (Paid Internship)

Job Description
Employment Status: Part-time (anticipated between 300-400 hours for the summer)
Qualifications: The Youth Ministry Assistant must be at least 21 years old, uphold Church teaching in all areas of his/her life, and demonstrate through his/her character, words, and actions an active life of prayer. The candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and on a parish staff, be able to lead and direct middle and high school students in small and large group settings, and show creativity, reliability, and initiative. Employment will depend upon successful compliance with diocesan safe environment protocol as well as proof of a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
Position Summary and Responsibilities: The Youth Ministry assistant will work closely with the Director of Youth Ministry to plan, prepare for, and execute summer youth ministry at St. Michael the Archangel Parish. Responsibilities will include:
Schedule: Hours will vary widely week to week based on youth ministry needs and events, with a priority on being present for the full duration of summer trips (see dates above).
Pay: $15/hour (anticipated between $4,500-$6,000 for the summer)
Reports to: Director of Youth Ministry, Joni Pepmeyer

- Meet weekly with the Director of Youth Ministry to pray for the ministry and set objectives to be accomplished that week
- Assist with preparing for and leading 3 overnight high school trips: Mission Week (June
- Assist with preparing for and leading students at Middle School Work Camp (July 21-24), a parish day camp for rising 6-8th grade students
- Plan and coordinate annual student leadership retreat for a small group of juniors and seniors
- Help plan, lead, and/or chaperone weekly and other ministry events like Bible study and serving the poor at the Red Door
- Lead teens in small group faith discussions and in different forms of prayer
- Prepare engaging and relevant faith talks and testimonies
- Create and share communications about youth ministry via Instagram, Flocknote, email, and the bulletin
- Love God and minister with humility
