Summary & Objective
The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions for assigned entities. The position works with a variety of accounting functions including accounts payable, accounting and reporting. Primary responsibilities of the position include maintaining monthly financial schedules, control reports, and subsidiary ledgers, accounts payable analysis, monitoring cash, initiating bank transactions, and preparation of journal entries. The position is also responsible for processing transactions, posting journal entries and preparing financial statements for limited purpose entities and will work on a variety of special projects which require the ability to plan, implement and analyze information efficiently.
Essential Functions
- Process Accounts Payable for 3 limited purpose entities and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Ensure accuracy and appropriate posting of specific vendors, as assigned.
- Reconcile bank accounts for multiple entities.
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers such as prepaid, fixed asset, and projects in process for various entities.
- Prepare monthly schedules and related journal entries.
- Reconcile inter-company accounts.
- Maintain accounts payable accrual schedules.
- Prepare and reconcile schedules for various annual reporting requirements.
- Maintain daily cash flow records.
- Complete any additional requests assigned by the Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or Director Finance.
- Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of organizational documents and reports.
- Maintains the policy of confidentiality.

- May serve as an interim department leader depending on need
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250 pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc.

Requirements
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- Must have the ability to understand and work with complex financial documents and reports.
- Ability to operate a computer and multiple applications software.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with a concentration in accounting and 2 years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A strong background with Excel is required.
- Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
