POSITION SUMMARY
This person works in the Reception and Placement (R&P) Program and coordinates housing and in-kind donations for new refugee arrivals. This includes setting up moving teams for new housing, meals teams, and soliciting, accepting, and distributing in-kind donations for clients. This position will store and sort in-kind items needed for arrivals. This person will work closely with CSS Development team to help augment volunteer opportunities and donations for the R&P Program.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM / DEPARTMENT
Refugee Assistance & Immigration Services (RAIS) provides a bridge for refugees (individuals who have had to flee their countries of origin due to the tragedies of persecution and war) and other new arrivals from their former life experiences to the new skills required for success in the United States. Through a focus on economic self-sufficiency, community integration, and a respect for unique cultures, history, and traditions, RAIS creates an environment of compassion and encouragement for refugees to flourish.

R ESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Reception & Placement team in finding and securing affordable housing.
Coordinate moving teams, meals’ teams, and other volunteer groups that are providing support of in-kind donations and time to clients.
Closely work with Reception & Placement team to monitor arrivals during their first 90 days to ensure that client needs are met and are in compliance with cooperative agreement.
Complete documentation of all meetings with work related to clients thoroughly, accurately and in a timely fashion. Use appropriate forms, format procedures and policies as prescribed by the Program Manager. Complete case notes in multiple online databases. All client documentation will be filed in the appropriate client or program file.
Document all in-kind donations in online database in timely fashion.
Act as liaison between staff members and volunteers working with RAIS team members to ensure compliance with process, procedure and liability requirements.
Work closely with CSS Development team and Reception & Placement Program to ensure across program support of arrivals.
Keep informed of staff communications, changes in RAIS policies, procedures, and new community resource info daily.
Answer telephones courteously; log referrals. Return phone and e-mail messages in a timely manner.
Assist in crisis intervention as necessary, obtaining police, medical, psychiatric, or other emergency services for client(s), as appropriate, and applying CPR techniques when appropriate.
Manage client confidentiality; handle sensitive personal information.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Requirement : High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience Requirement : One (1) year of experience working case management in a human services, direct services, or similar role.
A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical demands : Work is performed in a standard indoor office environment. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Lifting includes assisting housing team moving furniture to set up new apartments. In addition, lifting includes carrying of grocery bags to clients and receiving and distributing in-kind donations. Frequently sitting or standing at a desk for several hours at a time.
Travel : Frequent travel within Anchorage is required. Occasional travel to Wasilla office.
