Overview

The Vice President and Controller will oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring that financial reports are prepared accurately and on time, in compliance with regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Vice President and Controller will be a key leader in strategic financial decision-making and drive business growth through the development and execution of sound financial strategies. This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of financial principles, and experience working with Private Equity investors and public companies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements, corporate governance, and internal controls
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process with external auditors
  • Utilize ERP and financial reporting systems to maintain the integrity of financial reports
  • Oversee the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and operational efficiencies
  • Lead efforts in mitigating financial risks through regular risk assessments and robust internal controls
  • Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to develop and implement the company’s financial strategy
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and Private Equity investors, providing financial performance updates and strategic insights
  • Provide executive-level reports and presentations communicating financial performance, key metrics, and strategic initiatives
  • Manage and drive improvements in the internal control environment to safeguard company assets

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
  • 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a public company environment
  • Proven experience working with Private Equity investors
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities with experience in leading high-performing teams
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and financial software
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high-level accuracy in financial reporting
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
