Reports To: Department Managers / Internship Coordinator
Location: Hereford Plant
Scope of Duties: This position will be responsible for plant production operations duties in an assigned area of the plant. These may be rotating positions in different departments. Departments may include but not limited to: harvest, fabrication, shipping, quality assurance, pens, hides or other production areas as assigned. Rotation assignments normally will last two to three weeks, but could be monthly. Interns will work closely with Superintendents, Supervisors, and Trainers while completing their production assignments. Interns may be assigned research or special projects, if time and operational requirements permit. Goal is to train for a future position as a Caviness Management Trainee after graduation at the Bachelor's level. Interns will be performing regular production jobs in order to gain ground floor level experience in the beef processing industry. This experience will become the foundation for hopefully a career in the beef processing industry.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform various productions jobs as assigned by Department Managers.
- Will become familiar with plant operations by rotating production jobs during internship.
- Will become familiar with OSHA Regulations and Food Safety Regulations.
- Will become familiar good manufacturing processes, production metrics, and industrial operations.
- Will become familiar with beef processing operations and departments.
- Will become familiar with processing equipment and customer requirements for the Company.
- Must Ensure that all environmental standards, State and Federal are met.
- Must meet all production quality standards for each assigned position.
- Must ensure all assigned equipment is operated at maximum efficiency and as trained.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Responsible for meeting assigned daily production goals.
- Must comply with all ethical and code of conduct standards.
- May perform other related tasks as necessary.
- May be assigned research or special projects if time and operational requirements permit.
- Attention to detail and accuracy regarding time and organizational management.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of each assigned position.
- Must be willing to work different shifts, departments (Monday - Friday), if required.
- Must comply with all safety and food safety requirements for the plant.
- Will be monitored by the Human Resources Manager and Internships Operations Coordinator.
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program, sophomore level or higher, preferably in an agricultural related field.
- Some work experience preferred.
- Internships are informal and normally are expected to last approximately 2 months.
- Rate of pay is $750 per week plus up to $750 per month housing allowance, if necessary.
