Dispatcher

As a Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of up to 20 drivers, adjusting and creating routes to optimize service efficiency, and ensuring that both drivers and customers receive the support they need. This is a high-pressure, fast-paced role where multitasking, quick decision-making, and strong communication are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and dispatch up to 20 drivers daily, ensuring timely service and route optimization.
• Create and adjust routes each day, ensuring efficiency and proper coverage of the service area.
• Utilize transportation-specific software to track vehicles, manage routes, and communicate with drivers.
• Collaborate closely with drivers to handle logistical challenges and ensure on-time deliveries.
• Provide clear, concise instructions and feedback to drivers in the field.
• Thrive under pressure while managing multiple priorities and making quick, informed decisions.
• Maintain strong communication with both internal teams and customers.
• Take and manage pushback from drivers and other stakeholders while maintaining professionalism and respect.
• Be tech-savvy with a keen understanding of digital tools and software used in transportation and dispatching.
• Be geographically and logistically knowledgeable about the Cape Cod and Southeastern MA area to create efficient routes.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring excellent service and timely resolution.
• Demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented environment to encourage collaboration and mutual support.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in dispatching, preferably in a transportation or waste management setting.
• Experience managing up to 25 drivers, ensuring coordination and efficiency.
• Strong working knowledge of transportation-specific software.
• Must be tech-savvy with a comfort level navigating various dispatching platforms and communication tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle pushback and manage strong personalities, remaining calm under pressure.
• Strong decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Geographic and logistical knowledge of the Cape Cod and Southeastern MA area.
• Comfortable and professional when directly communicating with customers to address inquiries or issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Local to Cape Cod or familiar with the region.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
