Position Summary

This role is ideal for a gemologist with a passion for historical and period jewelry, strong research and cataloging skills, and the ability to engage with high-end clientele. The cataloguer will be responsible for evaluating, describing, and preparing jewelry for high-profile events while maintaining a professional and polished presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine, evaluate, and accurately describe fine jewelry from various historical periods.
- Research and catalog items, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards.
- Interact with clients during preview events, providing knowledgeable insights on pieces.
- Assist with event setup and teardown, including arranging display cases and assembling gift bags.
- Adhere to security protocols to ensure the safety of valuable items.
- Collaborate with a team of catalogers, operations assistants, coordinators, consignment specialists, and directors.
Qualification & Skills
- Graduate Gemologist certification required from GIA or FGA Gemmology Diploma.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fine jewelry, preferably with historical and period pieces.
- Strong knowledge of jewelry styles and eras, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent writing, research, and cataloging skills for crafting compelling descriptions.
- Proficiency in gemstone identification and metal testing using industry tools (e.g., microscope, polariscope, refractometer).
- Ability to calculate mounted gemstone weights accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with clients and colleagues.
- Professional, polished appearance appropriate for a formal business environment.
- Appraisal skills are a plus but not required.
- On-site position based in Dallas, TX
- Monday-Friday schedule (8:00 AM-5:00 PM or 9:00 AM-6:00 PM)
- Flexibility required for events, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends.
