Position Title: Digital Asset Manager

Reports to: Director of Digital Media 

Compensation Range: $55,800- 83,800

Crystal Bridges is a museum of American art located in Bentonville, Arkansas. We explore the unfolding story of America by actively collecting, exhibiting, interpreting, and preserving outstanding works that illuminate the American heritage and artistic possibilities. Founded by Alice Walton in 2005, the museum opened in 2011 and is a public, non-profit charitable organization with free admission.

The Momentary is a venue for the music, art, and food of our time, and a catalyst for creativity and economic vitality. An extension to Crystal Bridges, the Momentary is a ‘living room’ where community gathers to be inspired, connected, and joyful.

Position Summary:

The Digital Asset Manager (DAM) is responsible for the organization, storage, and retrieval of digital assets, such as images, videos, documents, and other digital content. This role is essential in ensuring that these assets are easily accessible, properly categorized, and secure. Additionally, the DAM will provide critical coordination support to the web and digital media team within the Brand Strategy & Communications Division. This includes day-to-day coordination of the web, digital signage, interactive media, and production work, as needed.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Asset Organization and Metadata Management:
    • Develop and enforce taxonomy, metadata, and tagging standards.
    • Organize digital assets into logical and efficient categories and folders.
  • Asset Retrieval and Distribution:
    • Facilitate easy retrieval of digital assets by stakeholders.
    • Ensure that assets are distributed appropriately and are accessible to authorized users.
  • Security and Rights Management:
    • Implement security measures to protect digital assets.
    • Manage permissions and access rights to ensure assets are used in compliance with licensing agreements and copyright laws.
  • Workflow Optimization:
    • Streamline workflows related to the creation, approval, and publication of digital assets.
    • Collaborate with creative and marketing teams to integrate DAM systems into their processes.
  • Quality Control and Maintenance:
    • Ensure the quality and consistency of digital assets.
    • Regularly audit and maintain the DAM system to remove outdated or unused assets.
  • Training and Support:
    • Provide training and support to users of the DAM system.
    • Create documentation and guidelines for best practices in asset management.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
    • Generate reports on asset usage, retrieval times, and system performance.
    • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in asset management processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with IT, marketing, creative, and other departments to understand their asset needs.
    • Communicate updates and changes in the DAM system to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay Updated with Industry Trends:
    • Keep abreast of new technologies and trends in digital asset management.
    • Implement new tools and practices as necessary to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of asset management.
  • Web and Digital Coordination Support:
    • Assist, as needed, in the regular updating and maintenance of the organization's website.
    • Upload and format text, images, and other multimedia content to the website, as needed.
    • Assist in coordinating with external vendors for additional web services as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education, Training, and Traits

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Library Science, Digital Media, or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS, website design tools and interaction design applications, and photo editors (e.g., Photoshop) preferred.

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in digital asset management or a related field
  • Experience with digital asset management systems and software is essential

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in digital asset management software and systems
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Understanding of metadata standards and taxonomy
  • Knowledge of copyright laws and digital rights management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Analytical skills to assess system performance and user needs

  • Physical demands: In the work environments described below, position requires utilizing a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time, interpersonal and written conversation with others, transporting (up to 10 lbs.).

  • Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment and in museum spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be reviewed and evaluated in the case of exhibitions exceeding noise levels. Some overnight travel may be necessary.
