Within Financial Services, the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Reporting & Data team sits within Group Finance and works across the Group to deliver reporting and data solutions to support the execution of the Group’s commitment to supporting Australia’s transition to a net zero economy by 2050, by continuing to manage the risks and opportunities of climate change, supporting our customers and calling for an inclusive transition. The team’s area’s of focus include:
- Performance reporting - Internal & external reporting of climate-related commitments including financed emissions, sector-level financed emissions targets and the Bank’s Sustainability Funding Target as well as governance of key environmental, social and governance reporting across the Group.
- Statutory reporting - Implementation of climate-related mandatory reporting, compliance with regulatory and assurance requirements.
- Data strategy - Development of the Group’s ESG data strategy including uplifting reporting and data capabilities, and end to end data management activities.
- Climate policy – Ensuing the Group has adequate technical climate expertise and support external reporting requirements and business unit support in interpretation of standards.
Do work that matters
We are seeking Senior Managers, Managers and Senior Analysts to join our (ESG) Reporting & Data team.
Your role will help drive the implementation of the mandatory climate-related disclosures including the execution and delivery of annual results, pathway to assurance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
To deliver on outcomes, you will have extensive dealings across the broader ESG Reporting & Data team, the Group Environmental & Social Strategy team, as well as each of the CBA Group Business Unit ESG and finance teams.
We’re interested in hearing from people who will aspire to
- Drive and execute the implementation of mandatory climate-related financial reporting requirements for the Group
- Work closely with key stakeholders including the Group Climate Policy team to define requirements and initiatives to evolve disclosures to meet the mandatory climate-related disclosure regime.
- Partner with key stakeholders to ensure the Group meets its climate-related reporting obligations.
- Lead year-end reporting and audit deliverables, including the Climate Report and Annual Report.
- Partner with external audit to develop pathway to meet assurance requirements for mandatory climate-related reporting disclosures and solve challenges.
- Engage with key stakeholders across the Group to execute on key ESG reporting initiatives.
- Monitor developments in the Australian and international climate reporting and disclosure landscape, and work closely with the Group Climate Policy and Environmental & Social Strategy team to assess implication for CBA.
- Contribute to external consultations and industry initiatives on developments in climate-related mandatory reporting.
- Assists in the construction of board papers and deliverables to the executive committee and leadership teams.
- Ad-hoc analysis including peer benchmarking to support critical insights to drive discussion and support transparency, and deliver value-add analysis for senior stakeholders
- Contribute to a strong and vibrant team culture
Other qualities you may possess include
- Experience in professional services or audit experience required
- Strong knowledge of climate-related mandatory disclosures would be favourable
- Exceptional reporting and analytical skills with strong attention to detail, ability to draw insights on business problems and identify drivers.
- Prior experience with preparation and/or auditing financial statements
- Strong business partnering skills with a proven track record in collaborating, influencing and driving outcomes with key stakeholders.
- Commercial acumen and professional judgement with the ability to make recommendations.
- Proactive, solution based and strong critical thinking.
- Problem solving mindset to drive automation and process improvement.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office suite of applications specifically advanced Excel skills
- Proven ability to deliver challenging tasks, managing multiple deliverables and demonstrated ability in navigating ambiguity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- CA qualified and Big 4 background preferred
