JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for daily transactional volume and monthly closings for the Property & Casualty division of HCI Group, Inc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
To foster HCI’s commitment to creating a collaborative work environment, remote workers will be required to report to a central office location for one week every quarter for collaboration, team building, and educational exercises. Attendance during collaboration weeks is a vital component of our team culture, and therefore mandatory unless exceptions are approved through Human Resources. Additionally, employees may be asked to report to the office outside of collaboration weeks as project requirements, team meetings, or other organizational needs that necessitate in-person collaboration occur.
This position offers a hybrid working environment. The Finance team are required to work on-site in our Tampa HQ every other Tuesday.

- General ledger responsibilities
- Prepare standard monthly journal entries
- Assist with monthly reinsurance journal entries
- Complete monthly closing guide for applicable subsidiaries
- Ensure internal controls are followed and appropriate documentation is maintained by accounting
- Financial and other reporting with respect to statutory filings
- Prepare assigned financial statements and related footnotes
- Prepare Quarterly and Annual Statutory financial statements
- Complete monthly reconciliations as assigned
- Prepare assigned audit work papers
- Responsible for preparing statutory financial projections and Proformas
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
- Provide assistance and backup to other areas in finance and accounting
- Assist and support GAAP reporting
- Strong statutory background
- Detail oriented, committed to professionalism
- Team oriented, proactive approach to all situations
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy workloads to meet time sensitive deadlines
- Bachelor of Arts/Science in Accounting required
- eFreedom experience preferred
- 2 to 5 years relevant work experience
