- Build relationships with key transportation and driver-provider companies
- Ensure that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements
- Plan and execute transportation equipment maintenance
- Maintain accurate and timely records, which may include maintaining and updating driver information, driver logs
- Works with the sales management team to ensure requirements are met for special deliveries
- Work cohesively with all internal Subject Matter Experts- including sales, transportation management center, operations, supply chain excellence, marketing, pricing, finance, & IT
- Act as mediate between sales, drivers, and customers resolving delivery problems
- Responsible for the review of a vehicle’s pre- and post-trip inspection; reports to include the proper storage of said reports for audit purposes
- Responsible for reviewing the vehicle inspection reports for any mechanical or safety issues which would prevent the transportation equipment from being utilized
- Daily communication with the Transportation Supervisors and Warehouse Managers is required
- Track orders, orders using functional systems (barcodes, tracking software, etc.)
- Monitor and report on transportation costs to the rest of the warehouse management team
- Stay up-to-date with safety regulations
- Other duties as required
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or any related field
- 3 years transportation, logistics, or equivalent work experience
- 3 years of transportation operations experience, including: carrier management, transportation planning, project management and supervision that is required for this position
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
- Experience preparing and tracking orders
- Familiarity with logistics ,transportation, and routing software
- Working knowledge of AS400 systems is a plus
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Should have exceptional leadership skills and directing abilities
- Strong interpersonal, motivational capabilities
- Ability to supervise and train staff
- Understanding of safety and legal procedures for handling goods
