ABOUT THE ROLE
The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading the engineering program to the highest level of quality work and customer service as well as the assistance to the engineering department in alignment with the management team, the CBRE engineering platform, and client expectations. Will perform at the highest of ethical standards, reflecting the core values of CBRE as defined in its Business Code of Conduct, Policies and Procedures Manual, and other related company policies. Will be required to perform hands-on operational duties and is not precluded from performing Watch Activity.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop in depth knowledge of entire facility systems and infrastructure by shadowing current employees.
- Gain further knowledge and insight into various systems and infrastructure interdependencies by independent exploration of the site and talking to other engineers.
- Mentor and coach as needed.
- Develop, implement, and communicate preventive maintenance programs and safety procedure manuals.
- Ensure that the mechanics and technicians have the proper information and materials about assignments to complete work activities in a high-quality and timely fashion.
- Develop material and labor cost estimates for work orders, preventative maintenance activities, systems, and construction projects.
- Establish and maintain budgets for facilities maintenance.
- Respond to emergency situations and ask for help when needed.
- Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
- Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
- Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
- Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
