Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and lead the localization of a UK air conditioning unit to meet US standards and redesign for new refrigerants.
Job Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for coordinating with an offshore team to adapt a UK-manufactured air conditioning unit to comply with US standards and regulations. This role involves redesigning the unit to accommodate new refrigerants, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the localization of UK air conditioning units to meet US standards, including UL, ASHRAE, and DOE regulations.
- Coordinate with offshore engineering teams to ensure seamless communication and project execution.
- Redesign air conditioning units to use environmentally friendly refrigerants, ensuring compliance with current and future regulations.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis, including thermal and structural simulations, to validate design changes.
- Develop and review technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and validation reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure successful product launch.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and offshore team members.
- Stay updated with industry trends, standards, and best practices to ensure the company’s products remain competitive and compliant.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, preferably in the HVAC industry.
- Proven experience in coordinating with offshore teams and managing complex engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of US standards and regulations for HVAC systems.
- Expertise in refrigerant systems and experience with environmentally friendly refrigerants.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Solidedge)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
