POSITION TYPE : Full-Time Faculty
START DATE : June 2025
PURPOSE OF POSITION : Teach and advise studio art courses in foundational areas of art and design, including courses in drawing and painting. The university seeks qualified candidates who will teach using curricular and pedagogical best practices, who have a willingness to develop courses and curriculum related to art and design, and who will assist in the overall program leadership and development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to a Reformed Christian perspective and the ability to articulate that perspective well in the context of teaching art and design courses.
- Teach a range of courses, including drawing and painting. The position also involves potential contribution to an art appreciation course for the University’s Core curriculum, as well as other potential cross-disciplinary collaborations.
- Participate as a full team member in department and university administrative tasks including curriculum development and review, assessment, development of new initiatives, student recruiting and advising, and committee assignments.
- Participate in the Core program and campus life of Dordt University.
- Develop and implement a personal annual contribution and professional development plan consistent with university and departmental goals; use the plan as part of regular self-assessment.
- Other duties as assigned.
