We seek an innovative and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. This dynamic role will drive the financial sustainability of the college while championing forward-thinking solutions that challenge the traditional reliance on student loan debt and support our mission to create new economic models for education. Trinity has become a national leader in implementing innovative economic models that resist the presumption that debt should be the means by which students access education.
Position Overview :
The CFO will play a key role in shaping Trinity’s future, providing visionary leadership in the management of finances and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will work closely with the college’s senior leadership, faculty, staff, and community partners to craft innovative financial strategies that support the college’s mission of accessible and holistic education. In particular, this role will focus on financial projections and strategy, development of alternative financial models, deepening partnerships with local employers, and contributing to the overall wellbeing and development of our students.
Key Responsibilities :
- Financial Leadership : Provide strategic financial leadership in the areas of budgeting, forecasting, investment, and resource allocation. Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and risk management to ensure the college remains financially sound and can continue to invest in innovative programs and student support. Training of and communication with budget managers on campus. Oversight of risk management and liability.
- Innovative Economic Models : Develop and implement financial strategies that reduce the college’s dependence on student loan debt. Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and community partners to design creative solutions that make education more accessible and affordable for students.
- Student-Centered Financial Planning : Ensure that financial models support the college’s emphasis on holistic student wellbeing, balancing educational affordability with a focus on personal, spiritual, and professional development. Explore and implement alternative funding sources, scholarships, and financial aid models that align with this mission.
- Community and Employer Partnerships : Support the economic modeling that drives partnerships of mutual benefit with local employers, industry leaders, and community organizations to enhance opportunities for student internships, employment, and career development.
- Collaboration and Communication : Serve as a key member of the college’s executive leadership team, collaborating with academic affairs, student life, advancement, admissions, athletics, and all administrative departments. Clearly communicate the financial status of the college to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, faculty, and alumni.
- Ethical Stewardship : Uphold the college’s Christian values in all financial decision-making processes. Serve as a model of ethical stewardship and responsible resource management, ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial activities. Consistently reviewing and negotiating larger vendor contracts, going to RFP as often as necessary to ensure good stewardship of College resources.
- Supervision of Campus Leaders : Supervise the Business Office and its leaders, along with other campus administrative areas, pending experience and expertise. Oversee the key partnership with Trinity’s food service and catering contractor.
