Location:
Varies. This role prioritizes site-based projects and candidate must have the ability for travel to various job sites when needed.
Summary of Position:
The Geotechnical Driller and Operator will lead the mobilization/demobilization of our side by side soils auger drill rig as directed. Provide drilling services for geotechnical drilling projects. Perform routine and standard drilling techniques in obtaining soil samples. This position is responsible for managing project teams to successful completion of all project deliverables, related documents and coordination of project requirements and provide further support for business development.
Accountabilities:
- Transportation and Operation of UTV mounted Drill rig & responsible for maintaining the UTV mounted drill rig in proper working order and assisting with maintenance upon return from the field.
- Lead the drilling operations of the rig by handling drill pipe and other drilling equipment.
- Complete all field activities, including but not limited to, drilling and sampling of geotechnical test borings, and installation of wells, plugging and abandoning of wells.
- Keeps records of drilling footage, consumables, and other items about drilling operations.
- Physically complete labor-intensive projects assigned by the Project Coordinator/Project Manager.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and field operations.
- Monitor the performance of all equipment to identify maintenance and repair needs.
- Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work area as directed.
- Complete all required paperwork, including daily reports, safety paperwork, and vehicle & equipment inspections.
- Attend all safety meetings and comply with both company and client safety standards and programs.
- Review ground disturbance documentation and adhere to CCI ground disturbance protocols/requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment, including equipment and job site areas.
- Turn in all required paperwork to office on a daily basis.
- Ability to lead a crew and mentor other team members
- Support in business development
- Perform all duties and responsibilities by Company safety rules and procedures.
Qualifications:
- UTV Operators Certificate
- Legally Authorized to work in Canada, without restrictions.
- Geotechnical Drilling: 5 years of drilling required, preferably within the geotechnical and/or geological field of operations.
- Sufficient knowledge of geotechnical drilling techniques to be responsible for an entire project.
- Be available for drilling projects that require travel and overnight stays.
- Must have current driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing and provide a drives abstract.
- Environmental drilling experience a plus.
