Basic Function / Summary
Responsible for directing and managing the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QA / QC) to ensure that products meet company and customer specifications, requirements, and expectations, and any certification or requirements act forth in the order. Supervises staff to accomplish line inspection and other quality issues. Works closely with other departments, vendors, and customers to resolve issues. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of QA / QC field. Coordinates work load to meet company goals and objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff.
Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Maintains employee time for payroll purposes, in accordance with Accounting and Human Resources policies.
Job Summary & Requirements
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Maintain a clean work area.
- Develops and implements Quality Management System documentation; and, maintains all documentation up to date based on required review frequencies.
- Must comply with all departmental SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), company GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), Employee Handbook Policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.
- Performs key performance metrics track and trending of data; uses data to define and execute continuous improvement activities and projects.
- Lead and perform Management Review Meetings as required by procedures (at least once a year).
- Lead Customer Audits and Visits; and, respond to customer audits noncompliance.
- Plan and monitor an Internal Audit Program.
- Perform Inter-plant Audits when assigned by the Director of Quality.
- Lead Internal Nonconforming Materials process for the facility.
- Lead Corrective and Preventive Actions process for the facility.
- Work normal shift hours and overtime as required.
- Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
- Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in the organization.
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test, and / or integration to assure the quality of assigned products or components.
- Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
- Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
- Decides whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review.
- Review all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
- Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
- Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
- Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
- Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
- Plays an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
- Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
- Investigate customer complaints regarding quality; provide customers with complaint responses within the required timeline.
