Compensation includes a base salary of $159,400.00 - $265,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Principal Platform Architect will lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure platform solutions that enable enterprise-wide application integration, ServiceNow, DevOps, and cloud capabilities. This role will drive technology innovation, establish architectural standards, and deliver strategic alignment across business and technology teams to ensure operational excellence and business agility.
Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Architecture
Develop and implement platform strategies and roadmaps for observability, integration, cloud, and DevOps.
Design enterprise-wide systems and architecture ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and integrate them into enterprise strategies.
ServiceNow
Deep understanding of ITIL, ASM, and ITSM capabilities
Strong knowledge of the NOW platform and how to architect and design ServiceNow solutions to meet business requirements.
Demonstrated experience with supporting ServiceNow technologies (JavaScript and specific ServiceNow APIs and libraries) for scripting, automation, and custom solutions
Ability to use industry best practices to integrate ServiceNow with external systems to create targeted business workflows and solutions
Proficient in ServiceNow solution architecture: able to design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
Integration
Proficient in designing architectures that ensure smooth integration between various systems.
Demonstrated architecture experience designing complex integrations that span multiple systems and systems of record and reference.
Ensures efficient and secure data flow between applications in distributed computing environments (on-premises, cloud, and hybrid workloads).
Demonstrated experience using Integrated Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) such as Informatica, Mulesoft, Oracle, or similar.
Defines best practices and frameworks for APIs, microservices, and integration platforms.
Champions reusable and scalable integration assets to enhance operational efficiency.
Cloud & DevOps Enablement
Architect multi-cloud and hybrid cloud solutions, leveraging Azure, AWS, and GCP.
Define and implement DevSecOps pipelines and automation frameworks.
Ensure alignment with well-architected frameworks, security standards, and compliance requirements.
Collaboration & Governance
Collaborate with business and technical leaders to align platform solutions with strategic goals. Develop reference architectures for technology enablement platforms. Align with business architecture capabilities maps.
Shape governance of technology enablement platforms working with Cox Enterprises systems of delivery and portfolios incorporating them with Enterprise Architecture (Application Portfolio Management, Technology Business Management)
Stakeholder Engagement
Demonstrated ability to influence and consult senior leaders (identification of needs, providing options with pros, cons and risks) in an organization, while also providing thought leadership to sponsors/stakeholders in solving business process and/or technical problems
Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver impactful solutions.
Ability to shape architecture through diagrams, architecture decisions, industry and Cox-developed reference architectures.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline and 10 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as master's degree and 8 years' experience; a Ph.D and 5 years' experience in a related field; or 22 years' experience in a related field.
10 years of experience in full development life cycle, architecture design, and platform implementations.
5 years of experience within the ServiceNow platform, 3 serving as architect on the platform.
Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), observability tools (e.g., New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk, Elastic, PagerDuty), and DevSecOps frameworks.
10 years' experience designing reference architectures, architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture) and integration standards (e.g., REST, SOAP, API Gateways). Proven experience in multi-cloud strategies, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and hybrid cloud security.
5 years with various development languages and capabilities (low-code, JAVA, .Net)
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
10 years architecture delivery and storytelling with ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including business and technology leadership
10 years in creating and communicating strategies, capabilities and solutions using architecture models, reference architectures, frameworks, diagrams and viewpoints.
Preferred:
Advanced certifications in cloud architecture (Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
Demonstrated enterprise-scale platform implementation experience
Experience with AI/ML platforms and analytics integration.
Integrated Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) experience (Informatica IDMC, Mulesoft, Boomi, Microsoft, or other); certification in Informatica is preferred
Knowledge of financial operations (FinOps) and cloud cost management tools (e.g., Cloudability).
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving large-scale platform initiatives.
