Cyber Security Engineer (Senior) T5

Position Overview:
The N2W Cyber Security Engineer will play a critical role as part of the N2W Active IT and project team, contributing systems engineering, security engineering, and project management expertise. This role directly supports the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and its Technical Security Program, ensuring compliance with National Security Information (NSI) cybersecurity requirements.
The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for the development and documentation of the N2W Active IT Cyber Security architecture, roadmaps, and investment strategies. The engineer will act as a technical subject matter expert (SME), collaborating with other teams to conduct research, develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and establish requirements for new cybersecurity capabilities within the N2W environment.
Additionally, the Cyber Security Engineer will assess and support the future IT capabilities of the N2W facility, including secure wireless networks, zero-client architecture, multi-level security (MLS) environments, Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud solutions. This position requires collaborative engagement with government personnel, contractors, and multiple industry stakeholders in a multi-contractor program environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Center Engineering & Cybersecurity Support:
- Identify, manage, and resolve technical cybersecurity requirements.
- Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and provide recommendations for cybersecurity solutions.
- Develop roadmaps and engineering assessments for securing N2W IT infrastructure.
- Support the design and implementation of wired and wireless cybersecurity architectures.
- Cybersecurity Strategy & Compliance:
- Develop encryption strategies aligned with IC/DoD/NGA standards and policies.
- Assist the Government in developing System Security Plans (SSPs) and Accreditation Packages.
- Review Cybersecurity Test Plans (CTPs) and Test Reports; provide analysis and recommendations.
- Support the development of risk mitigation strategies and exception packages.
- IT Security & Emerging Technology Assessments:
- Evaluate and implement secure wireless solutions in compliance with Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) policies.
- Assess emerging cloud and hybrid cloud security technologies for potential adoption.
- Work with NGA and industry SMEs to identify and integrate best cybersecurity practices.
- Project & Lifecycle Management:
- Provide lifecycle project management analysis, including risk assessments and security impact evaluations.
- Conduct technical studies, participate in major project reviews, and perform hardware/software evaluations.
- Brief stakeholders on status updates and cybersecurity analysis results.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 6 to 12 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, systems security engineering, or related disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in cybersecurity authorization and accreditation of large and complex IT systems.
- DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level III certification (must hold one of the following):
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- GSLC (GIAC Security Leadership Certification)
- CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
- 2 years of experience implementing DoD/IC secure wireless strategies and policies, including Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC).
- Must hold CTIA (Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst) or CISSP certification.
Preferred (Desired) Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT discipline.
- 5 years of experience in designing and implementing wired and wireless cybersecurity solutions.
- 5 years of experience securing emerging cloud and hybrid cloud environments.
- CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) certification preferred.
