Center for Christian Virtue (CCV)’s Human Resources (HR) Generalist will oversee and manage various human resource activities within the organization. This position will be responsible for the hiring process, benefits administration, compliance, and supporting organizational development initiatives and performance management. The HR Generalist will collaborate with leadership to ensure HR policies and practices align with the organization’s values and mission.
Reports to: Organizational Development Director
Hours: 15-20 Hours Weekly, One day in office, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Compensation: Regular Benefit-Exempt Part-time (20 hours), Hourly; Commensurate with experience
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the hiring process, including job postings, screening resumes and scheduling interviews, and lead the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation, paperwork, and training in partnership with the Organizational Development Director.
- Administer employee benefits programs (health insurance, retirement plans, etc.) and ensure timely and accurate enrollment, and answer employee questions regarding benefits, eligibility, and other HR-related topics.
- In partnership with the Operations Director, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations and maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
- With oversight of the Organizational Development Director, support the development and implementation of performance management processes, including performance reviews, feedback sessions, and coordinate professional development opportunities.
- Plan and execute annual calendar of staff appreciation and team development events.
- Manage the HR inbox and return HR-related voicemails.
- Other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization’s values.
Job Qualifications & Requirements
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in human resources, preferably in a nonprofit or small organization setting.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or other relevant certifications preferred; experience with payroll processing is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and HR software (experience with BambooHR a plus).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Well-organized and attentive to detail with the ability to prioritize and achieve deadlines without immediate or constant supervision.
- Willing to travel for and work overtime at events and meetings from time to time.
