You'll be able to work from home the majority of the time -- coming into our Corporate Headquarters in historic downtown Newark on a hybrid schedule to conduct new employee orientations and meet with managers.


Primary Function:

The primary objective of the HR Generalist is to coordinate and manage all phases of hiring and onboarding loan officers, administrative and professional staff (full-cycle recruiting); provide HR generalist support in employee relations, performance management and other areas; assist with administration of HRIS system; back up HR team members in Payroll, Benefits, Licensing, and Compliance; and maintain compliance with all applicable federal and state laws while creating a superior candidate experience.


Duties:

  • Work directly with management to recruit talented administrative, professional, and sales staff for all offices; lead and execute the sourcing process for external candidates, assess internal talent, and lead full-cycle recruitment process.
  • Deliver talent that meets the business needs and most importantly fits our unique culture.
  • Network strategically to build candidate pipelines for operational support positions. Enhance recruiting programs to communicate our employee value propositions and create a dynamic candidate experience.
  • Develop and post applicable internal and external job postings; maintain appropriate applicant tracking flow and data.
  • Coordinate interviews with appropriate staff, providing appropriate materials and summaries; Submit new employee background checks/credit checks
  • Conduct professional and succinct onboarding and orientation of all new associates
  • Provide timely and pertinent information to Payroll/Licensing for licensing of loan officers
  • Assist with administration of HRIS system, including self-service portal administration, employee assistance with timekeeping, uploading of pertinent employee documentation, updating employee communication, etc.
  • Facilitate and manage the off-boarding processing for exiting employees, including conducting exit interviews
  • Coordinate unemployment claim process: responding to questionnaires, providing appropriate documentation, arranging schedules for hearings
  • Consult with and advise management on basic employment and employee-relations issues.
  • Assist with policy and procedure development, revision, documentation, and communication.
  • Lead the annual performance management process for the organization, including review and revision of performance reviews, development of merit matrix, and communication to managers and employees.
  • Process incoming and confidential mail for the Human Resources Department and VP of the company.
  • Work in tandem with inside and remote Human Resources staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date industry and professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and maintaining personal networks.
  • Assist the Director, Human Resources with HR-related and other job duties and projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Human Resources Certification - SHRM-CP® or PHR® or equivalent preferred.
  • 2 years of HR experience, with direct talent acquisition/recruiting and employee relations responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of legally-compliant interviewing and hiring best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems and software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; as well as staffing tools such as: applicant tracking software, HRIS systems, electronic job boards, social media and candidate sourcing applications.
  • Employee-focus mentality with exceptional attention to detail.
  • High degree of personal integrity including the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Time management skills, with the ability to manage and coordinate multiple recruitment activities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to consistently and positively contribute in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, negotiation, resolution, and facilitation skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to display initiative in sharing of information and updating information timely.
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment including virtual team members, to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn system functionality quickly.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complicated instructions, short correspondence, memos and to use good grammar.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to think independently and solve issues and problems without intervention.
