What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Facilitator - INTERNAL CDEMS APPLICANTS ONLY position at CD East Middle School?
Purpose: The Technology Facilitators position has been developed to empower key teachers with the training and tools to assist their peers in technology integration as they serve as a technology mentor in their building. They will attend Technology Integration Committee meetings, provide technology training, and promote the use of technology in the classroom. The Technology Facilitator will also serve as a communication liaison taking technology information (from meetings and trainings) to their building during faculty meetings and in-services. They will promote effective communication between the schools, administration and school board as we strive to increase effective use of technology to engage students and improve student performance.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
In order to fulfill his/her professional responsibilities, the Technology Facilitator shall:
- Attend monthly Technology Facilitator meetings (or view an online webinar) approximately 1 hour each.
- Have a basic understanding of the district licensed software, technology related resources and procedure.
- Provide regular updates at your school staff meetings concerning technology related changes and improvements.
- Responsible for 10 hours (above the monthly meeting requirement) of technology training/support in the following three areas:
- Participate in the group project designated for your level (elementary or secondary). (Examples: Elementary Google Classroom development; Secondary Canvas development)
- Provide technology training sessions at your building based on the following: principal request; new initiative (software/procedure); increased usage of a technology related tool (i.e. Discovery Education, iObservation, etc.); or district request.
- Each Technology Facilitator will participate in at least one of the following activities: district task force dedicated to a new project, committee for special projects, or submit articles for the district technology newsletter.
- Submit an end-of-year log of all school training and technology support for the school year.
- Provide the username and password distribution for district technology resources to teachers upon request (i.e. Discovery Education, Language Arts and Math resources, etc.).
- Act as a technology resource liaison between the district Technology and Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment departments, building principals and teachers. Provide feedback on topics that would improve technology integration and support in our schools.
- Upon request, submit information that will be used for the planning of technology related expenditures, budgets and technology plans.
- Assist the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Department to plan and arrange appropriate in-services and staff development activities.
- Serve as a resource to your principal and colleagues in their efforts to increase the use of technology in their classrooms.
- Assist in the planning and execution of a Technology Night and/or School Board presentation showcasing the use of technology in your building.
- Work with mentors in the orientation of new teachers.
Technology Facilitators are not expected to troubleshoot hardware and software problems, but rather to promote technology integration in the classroom.
Technology Facilitator will be given opportunities to attend local technology conferences and training sessions.
Candidates may be asked to complete a separate Technology Facilitator application.
