Position Highlights:


Position Title: Epidemiology III (Part-time)

Location: Remote

Salary: $41,800.00 plus benefits



Overview:


The CDC Foundation is seeking a part-time Epidemiologist III who will work 20 hours per week to support the Arizona Department of Health Services, have extensive data analysis experience, and advanced statistical software (e.g. SAS or R) experience.



Qualifications:


· Masters in epidemiology, biostatistics, informatics, public health, or a similar field with 4 years of relevant epidemiology experience or a PhD/DrPH and one year working as a public health epidemiologist (Preference given to accredited University and/or School of Public Health graduates).

· Proficient knowledge of epidemiological principles and statistical analysis methods.

· Proficient knowledge of concepts, principles, methods, and techniques of administering public health programs.

· Proficient knowledge of advanced communication skills; oral and written.

· Proficient knowledge of database management, data analysis, and program evaluation.

· Skill in understanding research methods, procedures and techniques used in identifying and evaluating the health of populations, their characteristics, contemporary medical methods and practices, proper principles and procedures when conducting health or determinants surveillance and epidemiologic investigations.

· Ability to use critical thinking to determine whether a public health problem exists, articulate need for further investigation or other public health action on statutes, rules, policy and potential health impact.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Access) and advanced proficiency in statistical software products (e.g. SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, R, etc),

· Basic understanding of systems and procedures necessary for surveillance and investigation of infectious and chronic diseases.

· Experience working with the different levels of the US health care system and public health system, and working with electronic public health surveillance databases.

· Ability to analyze and interpret data from surveillance and investigations and

recommend evidence-based interventions and control measures in response to findings.

Responsibilities:


· Conducting advanced descriptive and comprehensive analysis of surveillance and epidemiologic investigation data, adapting or combining a variety of existing statistical methods to fulfill specific project need

· Collecting, analyzing, and creating reports of healthcare-associated infections and outbreak data

· Planning and conducting epidemiologic studies and outbreak investigations to address practical public health problems

· Designing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods for public health practice and program evaluation activities

· Communicating evidence-based interventions and/or control measures in response to epidemiologic findings

· Designing, manipulating, and using agency-wide databases for analysis of health problems to assess potential health impacts

· Developing and providing scientific and clinical guidance and technical assistance to various public, private, and nonprofit health and health-related state and local agencies and organizations

· Coordinating and conducting program planning efforts (including development, implementation and evaluation) with respect to surveillance and other epidemiologic data

· Participating in the design, management, and use of surveillance systems

· Serving as a scientific consultant for a public health program or project

· Participating in internal and external committees and workgroups related to areas of expertise



Special Notes:


This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Arizona Department of Health, in order to best support the State of Arizona in their public health programming.

This position is currently a remote position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
