Summary:
The Summer Assistant Teacher position is designed to provide support to lead teachers in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students during the summer months. The primary goal of this role is to assist in the implementation of educational activities that promote student growth and development. This position will involve working closely with children, helping to facilitate lessons, and ensuring a safe and nurturing atmosphere. The Summer Assistant Teacher will also play a crucial role in monitoring student progress and providing feedback to lead teachers. Ultimately, this role aims to enhance the overall educational experience for students while fostering a love for learning.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist lead teachers in planning and executing daily lesson plans and activities.
- Supervise and engage with students during classroom activities and outdoor play.
- Provide individualized support to students as needed, helping them to understand concepts and complete assignments.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring all materials are readily available.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to promote a positive learning experience.
- Supervise children in the classroom at all times.
- Ensure the classroom and all equipment are clean, well-maintained, and safe.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all CDC policies and procedures as set forth in the policy manual.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Passion for working with children and a desire to learn about teaching.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Previous experience in an educational setting or childcare is preferred.
- Some college coursework in education or child development is preferred.
- Proper attendance is required. Employees are expected to arrive on time, every day, able and available to work.
- May require travel to other centers within the county.
The required skills for this position include strong communication abilities, which are essential for interacting with students and collaborating with lead teachers. Organizational skills will be utilized daily to maintain classroom order and ensure that educational materials are prepared and accessible. Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties. • Lifting and carrying of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds
