Position Summary

Conference Assistants (CAs) are current Gannon University students employed by the Office of Residence Life to help ensure seamless transitions between the academic year and summer, then vice versa. During the summer, CAs are responsible for the preparation of our spaces regarding summer student housing and our camps/conference programs. CAs are required to gain a thorough working knowledge of our campus facilities and hospitality service to ensure operational success. This role will require students to clean, service, and maintenance residential spaces daily. For conference programs, CAs will act as university ambassadors aiding campus visitors during their stay. The CA must also be able to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, its diverse student population, and its academic programming in the liberal arts and professional education. In this role, CAs are permitted to work up to 30 hours per week. Students are hired for this position during the summer season but may have the opportunity to continue their employment during the academic year.

Required Qualifications
Must be able to work 30 hours per week Must be able to ascend and descend stairs during emergency situations and on a day-to-day basis in buildings where no elevators are provided Must uphold and be publicly supportive of the Gannon University Institutional Policy Manual and the Office of Residence Life Handbook Be able to articulate/implement University policies, rules, and regulations Demonstrate the willingness to accept supervision and constructive feedback along with the ability to follow directions, work under pressure, and work as a team toward a common goal Demonstrate excellent public relations and customer service skills Demonstrate an interest in at least one functional area of Higher Education (Residence Life, Housing, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally, a candidate will have lived in a residence hall or community setting prior to the application process.
- Be able to perform basic functions on Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ideally, a candidate may also be able to become university van certified.
Physical Demands
Be able to perform limited labor such as lifting boxes (up to 75lbs), moving furniture, and cleaning.

Special Instructions to Applicants
This position will pay $10 an hour and offer free housing. You are allowed to work a maximum of 30hrs./wk. However, hours vary depending on need throughout the summer. This position comes with housing included.
