Position Summary:
Seeking an Estimator for our Preconstruction group. The primary objective of this position is to support the preparation and delivery of pricing deliverables. This position receives direction from a Senior Estimator. Additionally, this person will coordinate with Project Managers on assigned projects.
General Duties:
Include but are not limited too:
- Contribute to pricing of competitive bid and negotiated deliverables as follows:
- Analyze and identify scopes of work from existing conditions, plans, and specifications through all phases of document deliverables.
- Perform quantity takeoffs quickly and accurately.
- Assist with subcontractor solicitation.
- Communicate with owners, architects, and engineers to clarify scope of work.
- Communicate project information and scope of work to subcontractors.
- Analyze subcontractor pricing.
- Assist with compilation of owner deliverables.
- Understand and communicate cost variances between estimates.
- Contribute to value engineering efforts.
- Build relationships with subcontractors.
- Attend industry functions and represent CDI in a professional capacity.
- Stay current with advances in estimating technology and techniques.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in construction or related field.
- Bachelor s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications with a strong attention to detail.
- General understanding of competitive bids and negotiated processes.
- Working knowledge of estimating technology and tools.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative office environment.
