Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner will share responsibility for ensuring equipment uptime by aligning the maintenance department resources with preventative maintenance on plant assets. The Maintenance Planner will employ maintenance strategies to drive the CMMS platform and efficiency of work performed. This role will collaborate with production scheduling to maximize and take advantage of all available wrench time. They will ensure parts are in-house and ready when needed. In addition, they will work closely with the maintenance team to order parts and manage inventories. Our goal is 100% preventative maintenance compliance. The Maintenance Planner will walk the floor and be an expert on the preventative maintenance work for all assets.

The Maintenance Planner works directly with Inventory, Maintenance Technicians, Supervisors, and Production Leadership to drive equipment reliability thru the utilization of the CMMS program. The
Maintenance Planner proposes solutions to scheduled work and equipment availability.

  • Understand all performance criteria and operating results associated with your area of responsibility and constantly meet or exceed these requirements.
  • Maintain Plant areas of responsibility to ensure an inspection and tour ready facility at all times.
  • Actively contribute during Daily Shift/Direction Setting Meetings.
  • Complete and document CILs (Clean, Inspect, Lube), master sanitation tasks, quality checks, PMs (preventative maintenance tasks), and perform required maintenance on your equipment. 
  • Understand sources of waste and actively strive for “Zero Waste”.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible in the build and upkeep of the CMMS platform. This includes adding locations, assets, PM work instructions, and spare parts.
  • Responsible for developing and managing the maintenance schedules for the factory.
  • Reviews weekly PM schedule and kits consumable parts for next day.
  • Directs the repair, maintenance, and modification of plant equipment.
  • Manage parts ordering and kits for upcoming maintenance projects.
  • Manage the parts inventory system. This includes entering or supervising the entry of all parts transactions such as purchase orders, issues, returns, and inventory adjustments. This also includes managing blocked invoices.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform or manage periodic cycle counts and physical inventories. Provide management with the required reports.
  • Structures the catalog of critical spare parts required for PM plans and adds them to their corresponding machines.
  • Work with maintenance group and vendors to ensure necessary parts are on hand while minimizing overall inventory value.
  • Help develop and maintain procedures for parts and work orders and ensure the plant compliance with these procedures.
  • Manage the work order system. This includes entering or supervising the entry of all work order transactions and providing the required reports to management and maintenance.
  • Review inventories and analyzes relationship to the production plan.
  • Communicate all schedule changes timely and effectively.
  • Manage weekly to monthly maintenance R&M spending meetings.
  • Create and report maintenance KPIs. Review work order paperwork, document parts, and material usage.
  • Work independently and with other team members to facilitate repairs in a safe and timely manner
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
  • Personal Protective Equipment is to be used where required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
  • Perform daily tasks as part of Plant Safety Program, Plant Quality Program, CIL Program (clean, inspect, lube), Autonomous Maintenance Program, Equipment Center-Lining Program, Defect Identification, and Preventative Maintenance Programs.
  • Properly complete all documentation to meet all regulatory requirements and plant SOPs.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, or other similar manufacturing-related specialization.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in managing maintenance schedules, improvement of maintenance plans.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as planning software/tools (i.e. Microsoft D365).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of employees and subject matter experts.
  • Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements.

  • Pushing/Pulling:  Some pushing or pulling is required on an occasional basis.
  • Bending/Stooping:Bends and stoops on an occasional basis.
  • Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling:May squat or kneel on an occasional basis.
  • Twisting/Turning:Assumes any combination of these positions on an occasional basis.
  • Climbing/Balancing:May go up and down stairs and/or ladder on an occasional basis.
  • Reaching:Reaches at or above shoulder level on an occasional basis.
  • Grasping/Manipulating:Grasping and manipulating of papers, objects, and equipment will be required.  Ability to use calculator and keyboard for data input will be required on an ongoing basis.
  • Traveling: Extended working hours and some domestic traveling.
