JOB SUMMARY:
At the highest level, must have an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and committed effort to performing their job in an ethical and proper manner. The TCIS II prepares daily progress reports and maintains progress schedules; checks shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variations; keeps records of quantities and cost of materials used; prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommends payment. The TCIS II may supervise a staff of inspectors and be responsible for their work results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise and oversee the work of transportation construction inspection staff in the field
- Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.
- Prepare inspection reports and other documentation, make field measurements and properly document quantities for pay in accordance with contract plans, procedures, and policies.
- Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan.
- Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents.
- Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.
- Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire’s and Owner’s requirements.
- Travel as required and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education and can read, write, and communicate in English and do basic math computations for length, area, and volume.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering preferred.
- One year minimum PennDot experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor I or higher.
- 6 or more years or experience in transportation construction inspection or a related field.
- Supervisory experience is highly preferred.
- NICET Level 3 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
- NICET Level 4 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction preferred.
- NECEPT Bituminous field certification.
- ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
- PennDOT/PTC CDS certification preferred.
- ECMS experience preferred.
- OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred.
- Provide positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
- Follow and convey instructions.
- Utilize computers and common office equipment.
- Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.
- React to hazardous warnings and signals.
- Infrequently perform manual labor.
- Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.
