Aerial Fiber Technician - Climber

CE Fiber specializes laying fiber in rural areas.
In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting our aerial operations and ensuring the smooth execution of various projects. This position requires a strong work ethic, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment. Perform routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.
This individual will assist/support (Ground Support) the Area Lead who operates the lift bucket/cherry picker or anyone climbing poles.
Techician is responsible for building, repairing and maintaining poles, cables, and their supports; and conduits for cables. The position also involves the running of fiber optic cable in the communication and power space, in underground infrastructure, working in manholes, ISP work, and whatever duties assigned. Lineman is responsible for maintaining the safety of the crew.
Technician will work using a bucket truck in most situations. In aerial construction all utility poles are NOT accessible by bucket truck so it is preferrable for Lineman to have experience using climbing gear. If not on the job training is available. We prefer applicants with experience climbing have their own climbing gear but we can also provide the climbing gear if need be.
Experience with phone lines, powerlines/electricity, cable/utility companies (Comcast, AT&T, CenturyLink, Time Warner, Optimum, etc.) is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have climbing experience and/or experience with gaffing or climbing. Any form of lift bucket ground support (lift bucket experience a big plus, but not required) or tower experience is encouraged to apply!
Responsibilities:
- Assist aerial crew members in the safe and efficient operation of aerial equipment and tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.
- Secure and organize equipment and tools in accordance with established procedures.
- Load and unload equipment and supplies from vehicles and aircraft.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment storage areas and service vehicles.
- Follow established safety guidelines and protocols at all times.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
- Adhere to project timelines and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Physical strength and ability to lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs. or more.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing job requirements.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred).
- Must be at least 21 years old.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
