What are the responsibilities and job description for the PORT Coordinator (Prevention Overdose Response Team) position at Cecil County Government?
This position coordinates a multi-disciplinary team of community partners that provide resources for overdose victims and their families. The position also provides direct supervision to the PORT Caseworker. The PORT Coordinator will ensure a timely and appropriate follow-up to overdose incidents and work to support the children and families impacted by substance use. This position is responsible for tracking reports of fatal and nonfatal overdoses, coordinating outreach to victims/families with community partners, providing support to victims, families, and community partners, participating in community awareness and outreach activities, and submitting programmatic data to the funder.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Review overdose reports from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office and the Cecil County Department of Emergency Services to compile a list of victims (both fatal and non-fatal) and ensure they are provided outreach to connect them to appropriate services.
2. Collaborate with service providers and organizations to coordinate said outreach, offering overdose victims and their families access to services and treatment.
3. Build and maintain relationships with agencies and service providers to ensure effective coordination and utilization of services.
4. Maintain a database of outreach response, tracking engagement with PORT, referrals for community services, and connection to resources.
5. Interface regularly with public safety agencies, local officials, and the community to coordinate overdose follow-ups and share program data, including successes and challenges.
6. Chair and facilitate the PORT Advisory Committee meetings of partner programs and organizations.
7. Follow safety protocols while operating in the community.
8. Participate in community relations and education through public events and outreach.
9. Supervise the PORT Caseworker position.
10. Seek additional grant funding for the program and prepares quarterly and annual reports for existing funding streams.
11. Coordinate trauma, ACEs, and substance-use disorder training for public safety partners, as appropriate
