Residential Nurse

What you’ll do:
The Nurse functions as a member of the Resident Services staff and is a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. They have overall responsibility for the delivery of nursing services to clients in the Residential and Family Home Provider programs. The Nurse is administratively responsible to the ED and shall provide assistance to any individual served by CLR.
- Provide training during the New Employee Orientation including, but not limited to Medication Administration Training, CPR/First Aid Training and individual protocol training.
- Performs TB Tests/assessments for new and current employees per policy.
- Reviews Medication Administration Records for the group home, family home provider and residential programs on a regular basis. Maintains and reviews narcotic records. Communicates relevant findings to the Director of Residential Options, Director of Community Integration or their designees. Facilitates training with DSPs and/or FHP to ensure appropriate and regulatory compliant documentation.
- Attends Plan of Care and other team meetings to represent nursing needs for individuals served by Cedar Lake Residences at the request of Director of Residential Options or Director of Community Integration.
- Assists in overseeing medication disposal and maintenance of medication disposal records including narcotics and all unused medications.
- Communicates with medical professionals on behalf of CLR including doctor’s offices, hospitals, pharmacies, on behalf of CLR.
- Ensures MAR, scripts and medical protocols are up to date and meet regulatory requirements.
- In the event of hospitalization, communications with hospital staff concerning discharge plans, orders, etc. Communicates discharge plans to CLR staff. Assesses individuals within 24 hours of discharge of hospital.
- Documents provided services in the individual’s EHR/MAR/TAR.
- Performs periodic assessments of individuals with ongoing health issues; maintains communication with appropriate Director/Executive Director.
- Provides consultation to CLR staff for general medical questions during regular business hours. Provides consultation concerning medically emergent issues after hours as needed.
- Conducts periodic reviews of client medical binders located in individuals’ homes.
- Attend staff meetings and in-services when appropriate. Conducts in-services as requested or as required by regulation.
- Perform nursing procedures according to doctor's orders with accepted professional practices.
- Administer basic first aid and/or CPR in an emergency.
- Maintain compliance with all regulations, including, but not limited to Group Home, SCL and MPW regulations.
- Establish initial HRST for individuals entering residential or FHP programs. Ensure HRST is up to date for all individuals in the residential and FHP programs.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
What sets you apart:
- Registered Nurse is required.
- Must be a graduate of a state-approved nursing program and a current KY license to practice.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a similar environment and/or working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Experience in the team approach to healthcare and IDT mechanics.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
