Job Summary :
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our team at Cedar Ridge Inn. In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert wound care to residents in our facility, ensuring optimal wound healing and quality care. You will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to assess, manage, and treat various types of wounds, including pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, a commitment to patient care, and a passion for improving outcomes through evidence-based wound care practices.
Key Responsibilities :
Wound Assessment & Care : Perform thorough wound assessments for residents upon admission and periodically throughout their stay. Identify, assess, and document the type, severity, and stage of wounds.
Wound Treatment & Dressing : Provide routine and advanced wound care treatments, including dressing changes, debridement, compression therapy, and the application of advanced wound care products to promote healing.
Care Plan Development & Management : Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans based on wound assessment findings. Ensure the care plan reflects best practices in wound care and infection control.
Patient Education : Educate residents and their families on wound prevention, management, and care techniques, as well as the importance of nutrition and lifestyle changes to support healing.
Documentation & Monitoring : Accurately document wound care treatments, assessments, and progress in residents' health records. Monitor and report on wound healing progress, and update care plans accordingly.
Collaboration & Communication : Work with physicians, nursing staff, dietitians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for residents with wounds. Communicate effectively with the team about any changes in residents' conditions or care needs.
Infection Control : Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections in wounds and to ensure a clean and safe care environment for all residents.
Staff Education & Training : Provide training, guidance, and support to nursing staff on best practices in wound care, ensuring they are knowledgeable about the latest wound care techniques and products.
Quality Improvement : Participate in wound care rounds, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of care and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications :
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with active licensure in New Mexico.
- Wound Care Certification (WCC) or similar certification preferred. If not certified, willingness to obtain certification within [timeframe].
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year(s) in wound care or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of wound healing principles, wound assessment techniques, and advanced wound care products.
