Position Overview:
Cedar and Stone Nordic Sauna offers an unparalleled wellness experience, hosting thousands of guests each year for sauna and cold plunge sessions, both through social, private, and floating experiences. Located at Pier B Resort on the shores of Lake Superior, our mission is to provide wellness through Nordic-inspired ritual, promoting relaxation, health, and community engagement.
We are seeking a General Manager to oversee the operations of our team and facility. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for wellness, strong leadership skills, and a systems-oriented mindset. The General Manager will play a pivotal role in leading a team of service professionals, ensuring the highest service standards, and overseeing day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management: Oversee a team of 10 service professionals, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Facilities Management: Ensure the sauna and surrounding facilities are maintained to the highest standards, including cleanliness, safety, and overall guest satisfaction.
- Customer Service Excellence: Address and resolve customer needs, inquiries, and complaints in a timely and effective manner, ensuring an exceptional experience for every guest.
- Partnership & Sustainability: Develop and maintain long-term relationships with partners and vendors, ensuring the sustainability of operations and supporting our mission of promoting well-being.
- Event & Programming Oversight: Plan, implement, and oversee wellness events and programming that enhance guest experiences and engagement with the Cedar and Stone brand.
- Sauna Guide Enrichment Experiences: Provide leadership in enhancing the sauna guide program, ensuring a high-quality, informative, and transformative experience for all guests.
- Inventory & Resource Management: Manage inventory of supplies, sauna products, and facility equipment, ensuring operational needs are met efficiently.
Job Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience in facilities management, team leadership, or operational roles in the wellness or hospitality industry.
- Strong Leadership Skills: A clear communicator with the ability to motivate, train, and lead a team toward high performance.
- Integrity & Purpose: A strong personal sense of integrity and purpose aligned with Cedar and Stone’s mission of promoting well-being.
- Interest in Well-being Practices: A genuine interest in and commitment to wellness practices, particularly sauna and cold plunge therapy, with an understanding of their health benefits.
- Systems-Oriented: Ability to implement and refine systems to streamline operations, ensuring the facility runs efficiently.
- Customer-Centric Mindset: A focus on exceeding customer expectations with a commitment to creating positive, lasting experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in wellness industry management.
- Knowledge of Nordic sauna practices and cold plunge therapy.
- Familiarity with inventory and resource management systems.
Compensation and benefits:
Pay starting at $23/hr. based on education and experience. This role is an in-person full-time position, located in Duluth, Minnesota with occasional travel. Includes 20 days of PTO, 401k with profit sharing, health, dental, and vision insurance available after 90-day introductory period. Occasional travel may be required for training and company events.
