Cedar Valley Corp., LLC, a Midwest premier heavy highway construction company has an immediate opening for a safety manager.
The safety manager position is responsible for providing services that create a safe and secure environment for all employees of the company. The safety manager is responsible for all activities, both routine and emergent; to continuously improve safety performance and reduce environmental impacts.
The ideal candidate will be a highly organized self-starter with strong communication skills. A safety or loss control background is favorable. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Weekly overnight travel is required.
Primary responsibilities:
- Serves, at all times, as an ambassador for Cedar Valley Corp. with all entities in the field (i.e. sub-contractors, owners, community people, suppliers, inspectors, Insurance Companies, Physicians, etc.)
- Oversee and administer all aspects of the safety program, updating the program as necessary
- Regularly monitor safety compliance of employees
- Conduct site inspections and institute corrective action if required
- Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may impact the work being performed
- Conduct incident investigations
- Drug and alcohol testing collection
- Test work areas for noise, toxic, and other hazards and institute corrective action as necessary
- Prepare summary reports on losses (safety, property, utility, OSHA 300 log, etc.)
- Monitors safety incentive programs
- Keeps current with pending and existing safety and legal regulations pertaining to company environment
- Prepares requests for concrete plant relocation, environmental, zoning and other permits as required by state laws
- Responsible for Fleet registrations, reporting and permits
- Serve as a link to improve field to office/office to field communication
- Conducts and/or monitors weekly safety meetings on all projects
- Manages all worker’s compensation claims
- Coordinates Occupational Health Services for project sites (physicals, worker’s compensation claims, etc.)
