Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Orthopedic Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding and billing orthopedic procedures and diagnoses, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, coding guidelines, and orthopedic procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate codes for orthopedic diagnoses and procedures
- Ensure accurate and timely E&M coding of all orthopedic services provided
- Assign and verify DME codes, surgical procedures, and surgical assists
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding requirements
- Stay updated on coding changes, regulations, and compliance standards related to orthopedic coding
- Assist in the resolution of coding-related inquiries and discrepancies for optimal reimbursement
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all coding practices
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance coding skills and knowledge
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Familiarity with orthopedic terminology and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
This position is full-time with the opportunity to work remotely or in the office. Monday-Friday. No weekends or holidays.
