Performs duties of HR Payroll Administrator while studying for Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP). Manages, prepares, and processes multi-state non-exempt and exempt payrolls on a bi-weekly basis. Computes and disburses wages and salaries, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and other withholdings. Analyzes and verifies taxes for annual tax filing. Utilizes Human Resource Information System (HRIS) to process personnel, payroll, taxes and timekeeping actions.Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00-4:30
Higher level position available with Certified Payroll Processor (CPP) designation.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with math, accounting/bookkeeping, and reconciliation.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational and documentary skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Effective project management for broad and detailed issues, and team leadership.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Reliability in checking own work to ensure accuracy.
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Significant experience with Microsoft Office applications and Internet Explorer.
- Experience in effective business writing.
- Effective conflict management skills/experience.
- Strong work ethic, operating as a team player.
- Must earn the American Payroll Association (APA) Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation by meeting eligibility requirements, successfully completing exam, and subscribing to APA Code of Ethics within 24 months. Attends continuing education seminars or other certified educational programs to earn Continuing Education Units (CEU) to meet or exceed APA's minimum re-certification requirements (12 CEUs, 120 contact hours every five years)
Preferred:
- Applicable college courses, experience with human resources/payroll/employment law, or commensurate experience.
- Previous experience working with a third party HRIS/Payroll and time management system providers, Workday preferred.
- Experience in multi-state payroll preparation.
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
- Developed skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in a payroll/accounting system.
- Experience with payroll taxes at federal, state, and local levels.
- Working knowledge of wage withholding orders and garnishments.
Summary Pay Range
The pay range for this position is $20.96 - $24.63.
Compensation offered may vary based on skills and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at CEFCU.
