As part of our determined growth strategy, we are seeking a Quality Control Engineer to assist in developing high-quality products and solutions for our customers.
With CEL’s expansion into North America, this role will also involve collaborating with colleagues across CEL’s US manufacturing plant and operations, making familiarity with UL standards, NEC codes, and global electrical industry regulations a strong advantage.
WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE:
We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to join our team. As a Quality Control Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and consistency of products by conducting inspections, tests, and measurements. You will collaborate with various departments to identify and resolve quality issues and help maintain high product standards throughout the production process. The Quality Control Engineer will report into the VP of Engineering/Quality.
Your Role – Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Product Release process.
- NCR Process – Support defining clear problem descriptions, root cause investigation and manage NCR to close off in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to ensure the production of products meet specific standards.
- Manage the Calibration System to ensure all equipment in use is always calibrated and records maintained.
- Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements or modifications to enhance productivity and reduce costs using a PFEMA approach.
- Point of contact to bridge the gap between the US and Ireland.
- Ensure that products comply with industry standards (e.g., UL, ISO 9001), and customer requirements.
- Conduct regular spot check inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet the required quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Onboard training for new staff in relation to process & procedures – Also updates on new process changes for existing staff.
- Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, tests, and corrective actions for QC records.
- Completion of actions arising from all Audits, NCR’s & Customer Complaints.
- Process auditing as directed by the yearly audit schedule. Provide unbiased results of internal audits to the assigned function and drive improvement action from audit results.
- Perform root cause analysis for defects and propose corrective actions.
- Supporting CI initiatives to drive Quality improvement & efficiencies.
- Coaches and mentors’ colleagues in the execution of Quality Management System.
- Establish transparent KPI's to monitor process performance.
- Set up & maintain regular communication of ongoing quality issues, improvements & quality related activity to create awareness and competence in quality management principles in staff to drive a highly focused ‘Right First Time’ quality culture.
Who You Are – The Ideal Candidate
- Process NCRs in a timely manner as required by the internal procedures.
- Ensure Calibration log is maintained to a high standard of compliance.
- Track Final Product QC issues and First Pass Yield percentages.
- Support the Operations and Engineering Team towards resolution.
- Drive the minimization of Rework Rate to ensure production efficiency is being met.
- Track Defect Rate on incoming fabricated parts per vendor.
- Flag all Non-Conformances (NCM’s) with Supply Chain to help resolve/replace components with vendors.
