Lighting Specialist
Location: Central Office
Reports to: Technical Director
Summary of Role
Oversee and execute the design, operation, and maintenance of lighting systems in live production environments to enhance worship services and events for Celebration Church
Position Status & Schedule
- Exempt, Salary
- Full-time (40 hours)
- Sunday through Thursday: hours vary per week dependent on events scheduled; will include weekends and evenings
- Christmas, Easter, Pursuit Weeks (January/August), and Dream Team Appreciation service dates and times are black out days for time off. Tier 1 Conferences/Events are required workdays for this position. There may be other events that you are required to work outside of your normal schedule, you will be informed in advance of any of these requirements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Leadership
- Create standards for lighting of live environments (services, conferences, events) across Celebration Church campuses, working with location teams on execution details and training for implementation
- Lead and direct lighting production teams (Dream Team, contractors, etc.) during weekend services at the Georgetown campus location
- Identify, recruit, and train Production Dream Team members
- Train staff and Dream Team to ensure proper lighting setup and troubleshooting during services and special events across locations
Creative/Technical
- Create lighting designs and standards for lighting systems throughout Celebration locations for services, conferences, and events
- Design lighting plots
- Establish and document standardized procedures and processes for churchwide lighting best practices
- Set up and monitor lighting programming for use by Dream Team members
- Create on-stage visual experiences using Resolume Arena, TimeCode, and Previz
- Manage lighting installations including Moving Elements (ME) and rigging
- Ensure continuity in usage of creative lighting across all services and ministries
- Research and stay current on new lighting technologies and trends
Administrative
- Ensure equipment is operational at all times, submitting work orders or scheduling maintenance as needed
- Utilize Asset Panda for inventory management
- Maintain clean and organized backstage areas and other production storage spaces
Financial
- Utilize purchasing processes for approval, ordering, and payment of services and items needed
- Enter expenses into applicable system and maintain up-to-date expense reports

- Expertise in operating, programming, and troubleshooting lighting equipment and automated lighting systems

- Identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring that lighting setups meet the artistic vision while maintaining safety and operational reliability throughout services and productions
- Ability to work well and succeed in a fast-paced, live production environment
- Proficient with work management, database, and other planning applications
- Sufficient in GrandMA, Vista, Capture similar entertainment lighting control software and design software
- Willingness to work occasionally outside normal business hours
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the production ministry of a multimedia driven church organization
- Prior volunteer management or training experience a plus
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to frequently move about inside the office and Church facility.
- Must be able to position self to maintain supplies and equipment on lower shelves and in closets.
- Frequently move supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
- Constantly work in open office environment
- Ability to work outside in various climates and temperatures
