POSITION SUMMARY
The Youth Counselor is a dynamic member of the onboard youth program and actively promotes the Camp at Sea pillars of Art, Culinary, Recreation and STEM. This position works with the guidance of Youth Program Manager to execute the day-to-day youth activities (ages: 3-17), toddler time, family programming, babysitting and holiday activations. The Youth team is responsible for the successful delivery of the Camp at Sea program, ensuring that all activities and events are operating within Celebrity Cruises Standard Operating Procedures and USPH guidelines. This position is also responsible for the execution of partnership activations while adhering to guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation or related field from an accredited university, college or the international equivalent.
- Minimum of three to five years' experience managing recreational activities of large groups of youth, ages 3 -17 years.
- Experience working in youth groups, camps or similar positions preferred.
- Has a vibrant and outgoing personality, exudes energy and positivity, with the ability to elevate the ambience in all social and professional interactions.
- Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse team environment to meet overall established time frames for the entire youth recreation operation.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service including needs assessment, problem resolution and achievement of quality service standards.
- Ability to capture and manage the attention of a large group of people with effective and courteous microphone techniques to serve as host or master of ceremonies.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the financial aspects of a youth recreation operation, including the successful identification of expense reduction through cost control.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the management of headcount within assigned area, as it relates to and supports the business needs of the vessel.
- Infant and child CPR certification and lifesaving certification from the American Red Cross or similar certifying organization preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with Shoreside leadership, department heads, and other shipboard employees, as needed.
- Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within a variety software packages such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
