What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Optic Network Specialist position at Celerity Integrated Services?
Celerity Integrated Services is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Network Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining fiber optic and wireless infrastructure for telecommunications companies, electric utility companies, education, and healthcare organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Familiarize yourself with various fiber optic splice enclosures and termination panels.
- Prepare and splice various types of fiber cables (OSP, ADSS & OPGW).
- Test fiber optic infrastructure using OTDR testing, power meter testing, and Fiber Identifier.
- Troubleshoot and identify problems and errors.
- Install equipment according to scope.
- Adhere to applicable safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve common goals.
- Complete a Daily Performance Report (DPR) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Be available for on-call situations.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid PA Driver's License.
- Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors.
- 0-1 years of experience in Outside Plant Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing and Testing or equivalent training and experience.
- Basic knowledge of fiber cable technologies, structure, and handling.
- General knowledge of electrical processes.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Personal automobile insurance.
Physical and Other Requirements:
This position may require overtime, flexible hours, and some weekends. The ability to lift heavy equipment (75 pounds), climb poles, crawl into small spaces, and work at heights is necessary. Color perception and distinction are also required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with an on-call schedule that may include holidays and/or weekends. Overtime and overnight work may be required on an as-needed basis.
Travel:
Travel is required on an as-needed basis. The ability to travel and stay overnight when required is necessary.
