Shift Hours: 2nd Shift, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Mon-Fri - Train on 1st
Pay: $26-30 per hour DOE
Job Description: As a Plastic Pouch Operator, you will play a crucial role in the production of high-quality plastic pouches. This position requires extensive experience in operating and troubleshooting complex machinery used in the plastic extrusion process. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and precise operation of equipment, adhering to production schedules, and maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and calibrate plastic pouch manufacturing machinery, including extruders, laminators, slitters, and pouch-making machines, to meet specific production requirements.
- Monitor and adjust machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, and tension to ensure optimal production conditions and consistency in pouch quality.
- Operate machines to produce plastic pouches in various sizes, shapes, and materials according to customer specifications and production orders.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure they meet company quality standards and customer requirements.
- Identify and address any defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications, and take corrective action to prevent further issues.
- Maintain detailed records of quality checks, production data, and machine settings for traceability and continuous improvement.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with machinery to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts, to ensure machinery operates at peak performance.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for more complex repairs and maintenance activities, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Production Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with the production manager and team members to plan and execute production schedules, ensuring timely completion of orders while maximizing machine utilization.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods, and report any shortages or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior operators and other team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge of the machinery and production process.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards in all aspects of production.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to the supervisor immediately and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in operating pouching machines
- In-depth knowledge of plastic pouch manufacturing processes, including extrusion, lamination, slitting, and pouch-making ideal
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.

- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in an environment with exposure to noise, heat, and chemicals.
