Job Summary
Under the direction of the General Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for:

Month End Close: Preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Budget: Assisting in budget preparation, monitoring financial performance against budgets, analyzing variances, and providing insights to support financial decision-making.

Audit: Assisting external audits by preparing required documentation, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and addressing audit findings as needed.
-
Other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Month End Close: Preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Prepare journal entries in preparation of monthly financial statements.
-
Reconcile General Ledger accounts by analyzing data to ensure correct classification of GL accounts.
-
Prepare monthly prepaid amortization journal entries and schedules.
-
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annually Financial Reports and submit to Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) and Department of Health Services (DHCS), and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Prepare monthly revenue reconciliation.
-
Maintain fixed asset records and appropriate documentation.

Prepare monthly IBNR schedule and entry.
-
Analyze, calculate and reconcile Investment accruals for Revenue Projection.
-
Maintain financial records and schedules including bank reconciliations and account analysis.
2. Budget: Assisting in budget preparation, monitoring financial performance against budgets, analyzing variances, and providing insights to support financial decision-making.

Assist in Administrative Budget preparation along with Accounting Manager.
-
Analyze monthly administrative costs for departments/operating statements.
3. Audit: Assisting external audits by preparing required documentation, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and addressing audit findings as needed.

Provide, and prepare financial data for Workers Compensation Audit.

Provide, and prepare financial data as needed by auditors.
4. Other duties as assigned.

Assist with maintenance of deferred compensation contributions.
-
Train and assist accounting team and create step by step notes on processes.

Correspondence with the bank for any issues or concerns.
-
Serve as the Bank Administrator.

Back up to other Finance team members.
-
Prepare spreadsheets as assigned.
-
Send monthly PTO Notifications to employees reaching maximum limit.
-
Processing yearly submission of employee payroll donations to local charities.
-
Processing Health & Wellness and Alternative Transportation Submissions.
Qualifications
Knowledge//Skills/Abilities

In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles

Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures

Familiarity with financial accounting statements

Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes

Hands-on experience with accounting software packages

Advanced MS Excel skills

Extensive knowledge of audit procedures

Strong organizational skills

Education and Experience
Required:
-
A minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Senior Accountant required

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting preferred
-
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in healthcare preferred
