Job Summary
The Vendor Manager (VM) leads CenCal Health’s relationship with non-provider administrative service vendors. The VM heads the Vendor Management Unit under the direction of the Director of Administrative Services.
The VM leads and collaborates with the Procurement, Contracts, and Risk Management Units within the Administrative Services Department. Additionally, the VM works closely with internal subject matter experts, the Compliance Department, and the Legal Department to effectively manage CenCal Health’s non-provider service vendors and ensures alignment with CenCal Health’s strategic goals, initiatives, and business efforts.
The VM provides thorough oversight of all non-provider administrative service vendors. Working with CenCal Health’s department owners, the VM will develop, refine, and maintain services and relationships between the vendor and the department owner to ensure the maximization of CenCal Health's needs.
The VM continually improves processes and contract standards to ensure alignment between CenCal Health and current and prospective vendors. The VM is a principal manager who assists department and organizational leadership in managing non-provider administrative vendors while ensuring all contractual obligations are met and budgetary alignments are maintained.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains effective, positive, and productive working relationships with all non-provider administrative service contracted vendors to ensure high-performing outcomes
- Directs, Manages, leads and engages with internal and external partners to identify opportunities for collaboration and aligns actions and processes to maximize program impact and efficacy and eliminate waste
- When required or requested, leads or assists with Request for Proposals (RFP) and efforts for external products and services supporting the Procurement and Contracting Unit
- Provides direct oversight of support staff and delegates tasks as appropriate
- Creates and provides education to CenCal Health’s leadership team on vendor-specific updates and developments pertinent to business operations and strategic goal
- Participates in vendor-related projects/initiatives
- Leads, facilitates and navigates non-provider administrative Vendor Onboarding
- Leads, facilitates and leads non-provider administrative vendors’ performance reviews
- Leads, facilitates and navigates non-provider administrative vendor offboarding
- Performs complex market analysis and sourcing strategies for non-provider administrative vendors
- Other duties as assigned

- Strong proofreading and editing skills
Education & Experience
- Preference towards demonstrated experience managing vendors for government or nonprofit organizations
- Experience effectively managing staff and leading a team through several projects is preferred
- Demonstrated experience in writing, proofreading, and editing
- Preference towards experience in navigating healthcare and Medi-Cal Managed Care content
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Management, and or other related fields
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
- 5 Years of relevant experience is acceptable instead of a bachelor’s degree
