Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement/Purchasing Specialist to support our defense manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and ITAR regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in government contracting, supplier management, and cost analysis to optimize supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing:
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to procure materials and services that meet manufacturing demand as well as contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Issue RFQs (Requests for Quotes), RFPs (Requests for Proposals), and Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, pricing, and timely deliveries.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contract modifications, and supplier certifications.
- Assist in audits related to purchasing processes, cost reasonableness, and supplier compliance.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other government acquisition regulations.
Cost Analysis & Negotiation:
- Conduct cost and price analyses to evaluate supplier bids and ensure fair and reasonable pricing.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including engineering, production, finance, and contracts teams, to align procurement strategies with project requirements.
Supplier & Inventory Management:
- Monitor supplier performance and manage vendor risk, ensuring adherence to quality and delivery expectations.
- Design and execute supply chain risk management strategies by assessing potential long-lead items and identifying alternative sourcing options and mitigating disruptions.
- Assist in managing inventory levels and lead times to optimize production efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with program managers, engineers, and contract administrators to ensure alignment with project needs.
- Work with accounting and finance teams to support invoice reconciliation and payment processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and reduce costs.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
- 3-5 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience in defense manufacturing, aerospace, or government contracting.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint) preferred.
- Strong background in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and contract management.
- Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other government procurement regulations preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to interpret design plans and technical drawings, bill of materials, and purchase specifications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills for supplier and internal stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
- Certifications (Preferred, but not required):
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
- APICS (CPIM or CSCP) certification

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
