The Accounting Manager will supervise the Accounts Payable function and drive essential accounting activities to improve financial reporting accuracy. Key responsibilities involve overseeing reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and reviewing work of A/P staff to ensure accuracy and quality of work. Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members to complete accounting close.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
- Manages relationships with vendors to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
- Performs all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and company policy and procedures.
- Stays updated on any changes in GAAP which impact accounting and reporting.
- Actively supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ensures timely reporting.
- Investigates and resolves budget variances while supporting the preparation of comprehensive quarterly departmental financial reports deck, providing detailed analysis of the variance.
- Supports the preparation of the quarterly department financial reports deck.
- Maintains monthly Balance Sheet and general ledger accounts reconciliation and analysis including, but not limited to: Bank Accounts, Prepaid Expenses, Deposits, Accrued Expenses, Capital Leases, Fixed Assets.
- Maintains and prepares accruals, amortization, and allocation schedules to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
- Assists with preparations of financial audit and tax returns.
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes.
- Provides leadership and mentorship to accounting team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and implements solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and controls within the accounting function.
- Special projects as required.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of GAAP and tax laws.
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and logical reasoning skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
- Able to adapt in a dynamic, high growth environment with competing priorities.
- Ability to ensure compliance with applicable financial laws, regulations, rules, and policies that impact or may impact the company.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with three of those years in a corporate accounting role.
- An accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CA) is highly desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and NetSuite is preferred.
